v2 - Fresh restart 🚀

Hello there 👋, and thank you for being a Twitchbuddy user. I'm excited to share some great news with you – I've completely rebuilt the website from the ground up!

The previous version of Twitchbuddy was created several years ago and had received minimal updates since then. Over time, this led to high technical dept and made it difficult to introduce new features. That's why I decided it was time for a fresh start. I've revamped the design and updated the technology stack to offer you a better experience.

As you can see, the home page is not mentionning a focus on features for video makers. I've decided to make this website accessible for everyone using Twitch.tv, that's why you will see in the future more general purposes features while still being usefull for video makers looking for new way to gather resources.

Why is the website now in English exclusively ?

As you may know, Twitchbuddy was initially created for French users. In order to make it available also for international communities, I've added translations for English. However, internationalization comes with a cost which I decided to cut off for now. I will probably add translations back for other languages in the future, but I can't give you any ETA for now. I've made the decision to focus the English version for now, and I hope you will understand.

Why the clips lists feature is missing?

You might have noticed that the clips lists feature is currently missing. Don't worry, it's not gone forever – I am in the process of reimplementing it in a future update. When it returns, it will be part of an enhanced version available through a subscription plan. If you urgently need access to your previous clips lists, please reach out to me at [email protected], and I'll provide you with the necessary Twitch.tv URLs or help you add the clips to your favorites. Rest assured, all the existing lists from the old website will be accessible again once the feature is back.

Why the hell am I talking about a subscription plan?

Let's talk about the subscription plan. Running and maintaining this website over the years has incurred costs, and I've been willing to add new features since the initial release. However, time constraints have limited my ability to implement these improvements. I've been looking for ways to host the website for free for years, but let's face it, in order to provide usefull features, incompressible costs are involved. In particular for the bandwidth of downloading clips and to run the database. Introducing a subscription plan will enable me to invest more time in development and cover hosting expenses. Don't worry, it will be cheaper than a 🥙 (before price inflation) for sure. It's important to note that the basic features of the website, such as clips searching, downloading, favorites list, and the resquad tool, will remain freely accessible to all users.
